Trojan Powder Coating Opens Third Location

Trojan Powder Coating is pleased to introduce their third outpost, TROJAN ARCHITECTURAL COATERS, INC., recently opened in Pompano Beach, Florida.

The original business, which launched in Bay Shore, New York twenty-five years ago, has gradually expanded in recent years, first to Sarasota, FL, and now to Pompano Beach, FL, where Trojan’s newest facility brings with it an entirely different set of capabilities.

At TROJAN ARCHITECTURAL COATERS, the paint line is well-established, applying 2603, 2604 and 2605 paints for the last twenty-five years, and receiving PPG certification for the last twenty years. The facility’s 50,000 square feet can accommodate large projects, material storage and easy unloading procedures. As well, Trojan’s pretreatment process—using a chromium phosphate immersion—is considered the most optimal for ocean front applications, ensuring a 20-year warranty for these projects.

“We’re thrilled to have a strong presence in the southeast and introduce our services to clients here,” says Carl Troiano, owner. “Facility manager Steve Metzger has over 30 years of industry experience, and it’s exciting to bring this level of expertise and service to Pompano Beach and its neighbors.”

This rapid growth in the southeast is a strategic plan that Carl conceived after noticing a need among the region’s architects, designers and contractors who prefer to work with liquid kynar finishes and treated aluminum, materials that withstand the salt, storms, strong heat and winds that constantly barrage the coastline.

Now under the Trojan Brand name, at three locations, Trojan is able to offer powder and various batch and automated lines, liquid kynar, and water-based vinyl paint. An added and significant benefit is that coated aluminum can be designed to replicate nearly any facade, from woodgrain and marble to highly-customized colors, giving aluminum projects an attractive aesthetic along with added sustainability.

The Pompano Beach opening is one of several recent brand developments, including receiving the first Qualicoat license in the United States and being named one of AAMA’s distinguished members of 2014.

Trojan Powder Contributes Innovative Technique to Miami Powerhouse Property

February 2014, Miami, FL – Natural. Lush. Tropical. Not a property description

traditionally associated with aluminum, but fortunately, Trojan Powder’s techniques are

anything but traditional. When tasked with bringing a new face to industrial aluminum

louvers—for Miami’s most expensive residential property—the results were nothing short

of spectacular.

While envisioning the design for an exciting, large-scale project, Indian Creek House,

architect Rene Gonzalez chose to embrace a design that would reflect the breathtaking

nature surrounding the property. Located on a secluded island between Miami and North

Miami Beach, house is a relative term, of course, as the property sprawls over 30,000

square feet and features rare, expansive views of the scenic Biscayne Bay, a premium

location in South Florida.

Deeply inspired by the location, Indian Creek’s architectural design was imagined with

nature in mind. In an effort to create clean lines that complement the property’s views,

Gonzalez created a blueprint that would dynamically capture the sunlight and blue skies,

while making a bold design statement in the process.

The backbone of this design heavily involved a series of aluminum louvers, for which Carl

Troiano of Trojan Powder was contracted to envision and execute. Inspired to use a more

sustainable option for the exterior design of the house, Carl took an innovative approach

to treating each aluminum louver used in the façade. Tracing the white-washed stone

walls, climbing over the pavilions, floating above walkways and lining the façade, these

louvers comprised a large part of Gonzalez’s vision and needed an innovative finish that

would feel both fresh and at home in this modern aesthetic.

Trojan Powder created an innovative coating and embellishment to be applied to each

louver that would echo the finish of a natural wood grain. This would not only effectively

highlight the property’s lush environment, but would also add a spacious elegance to the

design of the house.

“Collaborating on Indian Creek was an exciting opportunity to apply new ideas to

aluminum,” says Troiano. “Introducing a new finish, while being able to use a recyclable,

sustainable material that’s environmentally friendly was a rewarding process. We loved the

idea of bringing trees into the design without having to cut any down.”

During the day, the louvered entryways and trellises filter sunlight to an artful effect,

providing a sense of privacy while also playfully reflecting natural light against the white

washed walls of the façade.

At night, strategically placed lighting showcases the wood grain-treated louvers to emit the

same golden warmth found in natural wood exteriors, creating an impactful-yet-highly

sustainable solution for architects and home owners looking to incorporate a natural grain

effect in their own properties.

The result is a combination of shapes, textures and light that at once contrast each other

while also work together to create a thoroughly modern home, where the boundaries

between nature’s beauty and man made constructions are artfully blurred.

Qualicoat Grants First Stateside License to Trojan Powder Coating

February 20, 2015 – Bay Shore, New York – Trojan Powder Coating is pleased to share their latest industry certification from Qualicoat, making them the first United States-based company to receive its Qualicoat license.

This designation marks a milestone for Carl Troiano, owner and President of Trojan Powder Coating; one that he’s been working towards for many years.

“Qualicoat is known throughout the world as the standard-bearer for quality and excellence in aluminum coating,” says Troiano. “To be recognized by them and to meet their high level of requirements is a very proud moment for us.”

Founded nearly 30 years ago in Europe, Qualicoat was formed not only to standardize the aluminum coating industry, but to also raise the bar on quality assurance throughout the entire coating process, from transportation and installation, to cleaning and finishing.

Since its inception in 1990, Trojan Powder Coating has exponentially grown year after year to become one of the largest powder coating facilities on the east coat. With factories in New York and Florida, they’re able to accommodate a wide range of projects while guaranteeing premium, innovative and environmentally-friendly services.

Receiving this license is one in a series of exciting developments for the Trojan brand, including an upcoming factory location to open in Pompano Beach, Florida, and being awarded the 2014 Distinguished Member Award by AAMA.
